Whenever I see a painting like this, seemingly just a scene from the daily life of an era, I wonder if it would have spoken symbolically to the people of that era? Like, do the dead tree and the fence symbolize something? I wouldn’t know but I feel bad for the artist that most contemporary folks have lost the ability to recognize what would have been obvious to them. Or then again, maybe this is just three cows and a tree.
Also the detail in the cows’ fur is amazing.
Thanks for the share.
