I can't say this has ever happened to me, but I understand some readers worry about getting to the end?

Two drawings of a woman reading with arrows indicating her attitude is going around in circles.
Top: "I'm dying to know how it ends!!"
Bottom: NO!! I have to read slowly, I DON'T want it to end!"

I can't say this has ever happened to me, but I understand some readers worry about getting to the end? 🤔

P.S If you know where this is from let me know so I can add credit.

This is why I started reading before bed. I’m too tired to plow through a book and can only read a few chapters a night.

That strategy has severely backfired for Andy Weir novels.

I’ve had a few “Ah shit, it’s 3am?” bedtime reading sessions, especially when reaching a Sanderslanche.

Oh no, it was worse with Artemis. I did go “Ah shit, it’s 3am?” a bit more than halfway through the book and so I put it away and tried to sleep. And then after over half an hour of tossing and turning I realised there’s no way in hell I’d manage to sleep until I know how it ends so I got up and finished the book.

@kvasir476 The books you're reading obviously aren't interesting enough 😜

@NickEast_IndieWriter @reading @bookstodon @books @humor@fedigroups.social @humor@lemmy.world @aiop @joinin I understand the sentiment, but I don't think I'd be able to read slowly while invested in a story. (I could stop reading altogether for a bit, but that kind of defeats the purpose.)

The artwork looks like the web comic Girls with Slingshots, but right offhand I can’t remember who that was.
