The youngest generation has the least amount of money. In other news, water is wet. More at eleven.
Historically, does the youngest generation have the least amount of disposable income? As in, older generations (e.g., Millennials) are âfamily agedâ so may need housing for a family instead of one/a couple.
In my 20s and early 30s I didnât make much money yeah, but I had basically zero expenses other than food and shelter. With kidsâŠoh boy. Daycare alone costs way more than my salary in grad school.
It really doesnât make sense to lump rent and mortgage together, and I feel like Gen Z is hit hardest because theyâd have the lowest rates of homeownership.
My mortgage payment doesnât change, but rent has almost doubled since I bought my house.
If I was renting a small apartment, Iâd be paying more and struggling. If I had to rent a similar sized house, I fucking couldnât.

The real title is the title of the graph in the artle: âGen Zers Most Likely to Struggle with Housing Paymentsâ.
The article is lumping rent and mortgage together because including both covers all ways someone can pay for housing. The âhit hardestâ part is in there to communicate that, while GenZ is getting its ass kicked the most on housing costs, it isnât the only generation having trouble.
I can barely afford mine. Gonna have to.cut back on food, that shitâs too expensive too
Seriously. I already donât have streaming anything (except dropout), barely ever eat out, brew my own coffee, wear decade-old clothes, donât drink or smoke, get movies at the library, etc⊠Itâs like Iâm involuntarily boycotting the elective economy
The people doing all the work barely contribute to co.sumer spending anymore. Theyâre gonna fuck up one day and wonder why rental income dropped off a cliff and why all the grocery stores are getting robbed if food daily
Oh good Iâm not the only one looking to cut out food? Already cut out streaming services thanks to the high seas. Got to look other ways to cut now. I might as well cut my insurance because anytime I make a claim with those assholes they deny it.
Just live in your momâs basement dummy.
But seriously I knew several female coworkers that did not want to date men that lived at home. I recall one guy did a massive in-law suit renovation to live in his dadâs home and coworker ditched him because he was 31 living at home. Like sister you live at home cause its expensive.
This pressure is the leading cause to lower birth rates, loneliness, and crush the wallets of everyone who didnât buy before the housing market skyrocketed.

You canât struggle to pay your mortgage if you donât have a house .
-Millennials
Getting a house is easy, just combine 2 full time wages and disappoint your parents by not giving them grandchildren that they wonât help look after anyway. It takes a village and the entire village has told everyone to fuck off they are on their own, individualism is here.
