Someone please give Peter this book
âThe Eighth Dwarfâ by Ross Thomas. A 3â 6â nobleman who became a Hollywood gigolo after stealing $50,000 from the British Secret Service recruits an ex-OSS hotshot to travel to 1946 Germany in search of the worldâs greatest assassin.
Thatâs the first chapter.

I watched the pilot for this show and it didnât really grab me, did it get good eventually?
I had fun with it. I liked it more than the last several movies, and thereâs one episode in the middle that was really great. It does have the same problem the last few movies had though, where it relies on the characters being oddly reckless/stupid about security/containment/quarantine in order for things to happen.
Also the best alien in the show isnât an Alien, if that makes sense.
It isnât a xenomorph but is an alien, to put it differently. Agreed though.
It did not, but much like Prometheus, I couldnât stop watching it!
It was better than covenant and Prometheus
I liked it.
Itâs far from the best thing in the alien franchise, but itâs alright.
I enjoyed it. It definitely got more interesting as the season went on.
Episode 5 is fantastic and I am pretty sure it can be watched without needing to know anything else from the series. It is basically an Alien movie in less than an hour and with new stuff that are good additions plus the acting and character motivations are all solid.
Really wish the rest of the series was as well done as that one episode.
At the very least watch episode 5!
It can be watched while ignoring the rest. Itâs honestly fantastic, peak Alien vibes. Itâs the events that happen on the space ship that caused it to crash into Earth. Which is where/when the show technically starts.
The rest of the show is⊠Ok⊠Iâm glad I watched it all, but it wasnât that great.
Itâs a strictly by the book, predictable bowl of plain instant oatmeal for the most part. If youâre a casual fan of the Alien franchise, and not too demanding, youâll find entertaining moments.
Main thing is, itâs an Alien franchise tie-in. Donât expect a masterpiece. If you do, and by all means itâs completely fair if you do considering its origins, youâll probably be turned off pretty quickly.
For me: I enjoyed it, but I hate these mid-season episodes that are âback to the past to fill in important gapsâ instead of moving the story forwards. And in season one, this is one of the most egregious examples because thereâs an episode in the middle that was literally just what a real first episode should have been. It disrupts the pace and it wasnât even particularly well-done as it was mostly confirmation of stuff youâd likely already assumed or figured out.
I think the stupidest part of the show (so far) was actually also one of my favorites. The eyeball alien makes absolutely zero sense at all no matter how you slice it, but the concept was as hilarious as it was horrifying, so I give them kudos.
Agree, that episode was one of the worst. I was pretty surprised by all the hype surrounding it when it had zero tension because it was recapping things we already knew. You canât make survival horror after youâve already told the audience who lives and who dies. Thatâs not how it works at all.
I made three episodes in before I quit. It was terrible.
To me, this is like another sci-fi story that got rewritten to have Aliens in it.
I hate so much about this series. However I thought Romulus wasnât as bad as everyone says so what do I know.
Some good some bad, I enjoyed it but wish it had a bit more room to breathe. Everyone has their own agenda and itâs got good tension.
The xenonorphs just made it a bit weird, for me. I know this thing is terrifyingly deadly and if they get a foothold earth is cooked.
Would have preferred the other aliens and corporate espionage without the XMs.
I would avoid watching it until the second season releases. The lack of progress in the first season became very frustrating and the finale was anticlimactiic.
No.
I had fun watching it, but I would not call it good.
